What is Aspen Groups?

BACKGROUND
Aspen Groups (formerly the Aspen Group Sales Alliance) was formed by several organizations partnering together in the Aspen community.  The primary motivation behind the organization's formation was to create an entity that could generate awareness of Aspen's diverse suitability to host and attract groups of all sizes.  Most of Aspen's properties via the Aspen Lodging Association (ALA), the Aspen Chamber Resort Association (ACRA), and Stay Aspen Snowmass Central Reservations (SAS), collectively support this new initiative.

CURRENT ROLE
Aspen Groups was formed to have a dedicated sales force to concentrate on marketing, promoting and selling Aspen exclusively to groups.  In the absence of a civic meeting facility, the mission of the alliance is to bring business to the community resulting in an increase of occupancy for all lodging properties.  This requires creativity and ingenuity in the marketing process – i.e. utilizing parks and other municipal facilities as venues thus creating city-wide opportunities.  The Aspen Chamber Resort Association sets the marketing strategy for the community, reporting to an advisory committee comprised of lodging properties and other community members.  In this vain, the group marketing role will leverage the direction set forth by the overall “bed tax” based plan.

FUNDING AND MANAGEMENT
Aspen Groups is funded by the Aspen Chamber Resort Association, Stay Aspen Snowmass and a pillow fee from participating lodging properties. The Director of Group Sales and Marketing reports to a committee comprised of the funding group.
